A conference entitled “Boosting advanced bio-plastic in the agriculture sector” will take place in Zaragoza (Spain) on May 29th. This conference will present results from the LIFE project Multibiosol , which has developed advanced bio-plastics to be used as mulching and fruit bags in the agricultural sector.
Over the past 60 years, plastic film for silage, mulch and greenhouse applications contributed greatly to increasing agricultural output and productivity. Plastic films have been prominent in the horticultural industry, and in improving silage quality, helping to increase milk yields. They have also been extending the growing season with protective mulch and greenhouse films.
On July 5th, 40 people from around Spain took part in a seminar and two field visits to witness firsthand how the 100% biodegradable agricultural film fared in an environment exposed to the elements.
Aitiip Technology Centre has developed an innovative mulching, in the framework of Multibiosol project (Life +), which this Friday will begin to be installed in fields of Saragossa, where tomato, pepper and cucumber is grown.
