Development of a normothermic preservation system with non-invasive metabolic monitoring capability.

Program: RETOS COLABORACIÓN – MINECO

Exp: RTC-2016-5108-1

Duration: 45 months, March 2016 - December 2019

Coordinator: Ebers

More information:

The main objective of this project is the development of an organ preservation system for transplantation capable of maintaining the organ in functional conditions during the preservation process.

Thus, not only is the objective of preserving the organ in optimum conditions, but also monitoring metabolic parameters of the organ during the preservation process, regulating the values of the same and determining its post-transplant viability.

The project will be valid for the preservation of kidney and liver and focuses on two basic developments:

  • On the one hand, the device capable of providing the desired preservation conditions, which does not come into contact with the organ.
  • On the other, the components that come in contact with the organ or perfusion medium.
